Please help! I need ideas for our public school christmas program.?

Question

I teach 5 behaviorally and emotionally disturbed children. I need to come up with something to do for our christmas progam. They are in the 6th grade and I know for sure one of my students will NOT participate. So that leaves me with maybe 4 students if they are having a good day. Any suggestions? It can not be religous in anyway its a public school. Thank you for your help!

i've worked with specail needs children for 6 years 24/7 all summer.  i understand that maybe what you need might not be the same as what my kids need but it might be close.

i have trouble thinking of things to do also....but if i had to suggest something, how about trying to teach them a verse of a christmas song or how about having them [with your help] make like a christmas tree and let them color it and say what they want for christmas or something.

i dont know...ive been sitting here thinking for like 10 mintues and i am having trouble with thinking of something for you.

With those types of students, you should have started way before now.

Perhaps they can usher or take coats.

If you want them IN the program, then hurry up and teach them, a song, maybe Jingle Bells.

Could they make a piece of artwork to display?

Perhaps they could hold props for another class. If another grade is singing rudolph, they could hold a picture of rudolph or wear those antler headbands.

Could they dress in Santa outfits?

You could teach hand motions to a song.

Most students w/o a special need will require at least six weeks of preparation to perform. So you will have to find a very basic form of expression.

I'm sorry if it is a Christmas program and you can't have anything religious, why is your school having a CHRISTmas program?
