My mom's legs are jerking uncontrollable.

She was put on mirapex for restless leg syndrome, and it helped fro the first few months and now it's starting not to work.

She cannot keep her legs still.

We put pain bust on there and it didn't help.

She is just kicking them around and they are hurting.

Anything you know of to help them?

Oh, and a bar of soap under the bed sheets doesn't work either.

  1. Ask mum to visit the product profile on these products....Lions mane and Ganoderma RG and LR......

www.online-ganoderma.com/whiteraven she wont be disappointed.....I have that trouble specially when I am tired, but it has lessened since Ive been on these...it is an awful feeling, so I feel for her.......

  2. Only a doctor is qualified to handle this one. What does the doctor who prescribed Mirapex say? If a call to that doctor doesn't produce an answer, call back until you're satisfied. It's never a good idea to quit taking any pharmaceutical suddenly or without a doctor's supervision, but maybe you need to ask the doctor if she should be on more Mirapex or a different medication. I took Mirapex for a few years, and it had a lot of strange side effects for me and others (I have Parkinson's Disease).

RLS is a neurological disorder and it has something to do with signals from the brain not getting relayed correctly to the legs. The best kind of doctor to diagnose neurological (brain and nerves) disorders is a Neurologist. RLS is a movement disorder, so it would be great if you could find a Neurologist who has done the work necessary to become a MDS (Movement Disorder Specialist).

Please understand that if an illness is located in the brain, it doesn't mean the person is crazy or demented or anything. If someone has RLS, or Parkinson's, or ALS, or Huntingtons, or any movement disorder, it's just that the area of the brain that controls movement is having trouble.

These things can be treated. By a doctor who knows about this type of illness, not that GPs or Family Practice doctors can't treat them well, as many of them do.

Believe me, if there were a home remedy for these things, I'd have found it ten years ago.

You can find more information and support at http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/ or at http://wemove.org/, including help on how to look for an appropriate doctor

I hope I haven't confused you too much.

  3. Does she have any history of drug use? Low dopamine can cause muscle tremors and jerkiness.

  4. A magnesium deficiency can cause jerking. There is plenty of magnesium in nuts or perhaps a magnesium supplement every day might help.

  5. take her to the emergency room
