Please help!!! I-pod touch 8gb question about the menu and my applications?

I got an 8gb I-pod touch recently and on my menu I have 11 icons which are Safari Calender Contacts You tube Clock Calcuator Settings Music Video Photos and I tunes. But I was useing my friends I pod touch which is also an 8 gb he has other icons on his menu like mail maps stocks and 4 or 5 other things and I was wondering how can I get all thease on to my I pod ... Thanks

if you are on firmware 1.1.x then you will have to buy the 2.0 ipod touch software upgrade where you also get the app store or you can jailbreak your 1.1.4 using ziphone.

Get the latest firmware form apple via the itunes store!

NEVER jailbreak and ipod or iphone as it voids warranty adds nearly nothing  but causes all sorts of problems with reliability.

Always use itunes for your ipod and never try and drop into folders yourself.

Once you have the 2.0 software you can add Apps from the itunes store (many are free) including games and utilities which do NOT work on many jailbroken units.
