the internet isnt helping, does anyone know how iron ore is formed

Most of the worlds Iron Ore is billions of years old. The ore is called Banded Iron Stone formation (BIFs), and Australia is one of the worlds biggest producers. Australia's BIFs were formed 2.6 to 2.45 billion years ago, when newly evolved cynaobacteria (blue-green algae) generated oxygen gas that slowly changed the Earth's atmosphere from anoxic to oxic. As a result, the Earth rusted and iron oxide rust sank to the sea floor, building up vast deposits of iron ore.
