Hey guys! First off, I wanna thank the people who helped me with my math question! you rock! okay, , I OFFICALLY suck at language arts. : [

I do NOT get these words, and I have to use them in a sentence, without using the word itself, i have to give a meaning to the world, and use it to describe me. PLEASE HELP! ugh, i don't get these, && to probably answer your questions, YES i did use a dictionary, but it made me confused even more. : [ I can't even pronounce them!

Here are the words,

benovolent

petulant

belligerent

diffident

Please help?

  1. Okay--

       Benevolent is an adjective for doing good-- or something for the benefit of charity.  Similar in meaning to benevolence-- Inclined to do good and/or an act of generosity.

       Belligerant--also an adjective, means to inclined or eager to fight; one that is hostile or aggressive.

       Diffident--also an adjective, meaning one that is shy and timid.

       Petulant--again another adjective, meaning one that is irritable or bad-tempered.

    a thesaurus is better than a dictionary for this sort of thing as there will be words you recognize in the list and this will help you understand the meanings better

    I am always kind to everyone that I meet.  I am benevolent.

    petulant:

    irritable, peevish, fretful, pettish, touchy

    When I have stayed up too late doing homework I become quite irritable.  I become petulant.

    belligerent:

    combative, quarrelsome, antagonistic, contentious

    I was so angry when I got an "F" in math that I became combative.  I became belligerent.

    diffident:

    self-conscious, self-effacing, abashed, embarrassed, modest, unassuming, unconfident

    I am so embarrassed when I have to wear a bathing suit for gym class. I become diffident in my bathing suit.

  6. did you  mean Benevolent? if so i believe its an expression of kindness. like being concerned for the welfare of others.

    belligerent is like being hostile. kinda like when somebody gets ridiculously drunk they become sort of belligerent bc they are all acting crazy and mess haha

    and i wanna say that diffident is some what close to being shy or timid bc of lack of self confidence or something else that might play a roll.
