Question:

Please help!!! My cable/internet bill?

I am trying to find a way to lower my cable/internet bill. I was wondering if doing something like this would work....what if I cancel my cable service (I have Comcast in Northern California btw) and then I have my mom, brother, or friend sign up instead, then they can get the introductory rates again. I suppose there is a chance this wouldn't work because my mom and I have the same last name, and the same first initial. I'm getting screwed over, it is just too expensive since my 1 year introductory rates went up. Would I need to repay installation fees or anything? Is there any way to avoid that?

Also, there is no other option. The only cable alternative up here is dish service and I rent an apartment and we aren't allowed to have satellite dishes.

Has anyone every done this or heard of someone else doing it? Do you think it would work? Thanks!

  1. First look to see if you terminate there is no penalties of any kind. Some companies give you a beginning low rate only if you have a contract for a certain period of time.

Yes  I believe there will be new fees for set up and I doubt they care about the name. Also you still have to pay your account balance in full and usually the full amount once you discontinue the service.

One option if you have a really good computer is to get a computer wireless card and watch tv on your computer instead. They have even past episodes you missed.

  2. Comcast wants to keep customers.  Just call em up  and say you can't afford it anymore and they will basicly bargain with you to keep you as a customer.  Usually you can ask for the introductory rate and they will give it to you.  I've done it lots of times before, they would rather have you as a customer paying $25 a month then no customer at all.
