Please help! My co-worker is driving me insane?

Question

We just hired a new sales rep and he won't stop talking to me. I ignore him and act busy and he doesn't take a hint. I don't want to be mean but I don't care about the fact his 22 yr old son shaved his facial hair this morning, I don't care what color the sky is today, I don't care about any of the meaningless questions that pop into his fat head.

What can I do. My boss is aware and agrees he needs to leave thw office admin alone during the day unless it pertains to work but...right now I may go postal

Tell him you're easily distracted and you really need to be left alone to get your work done, because you don't want to get into trouble (and maybe add that your boss is on your tail about it!)

I get you!! There's a friend of mine who always talks c**p like this so i always reply to her by: hmmmm, ummmmm, yeah, ahuah :-D

I nod my head to anything she says, cuz i know it's all $hitty talk.

BUT, It became a habit now i always say hmmm to ppl that they told my numerous times to stop it!!

Btw, dont bother yourself, maybe tell him to shut up cuz u're going to have a migraine soon and that he wont like it,  i ignored another friend of mine for more than 20 days now, she doesnt call anymore or hangout with me(thank god! but it's not the same girl, if then that'd be RUDE, lmao)

I have a co-worker like that and I just told him one day "Look I don't like you and I really wish that you would stop talking to me!"  Needless to say that didnt work and he still talks to me so I just ignore him and give him nasty looks

   1) Tell him you have work to do and can't concentrate with him breathing down your neck.  

  2) Start coughing violently every time he gets close to you, and ask if you can blow your nose on his sleeve.  

3) Run to the bathroom and take your files with you.

4) Tell him you think you saw someone breaking into his car.

I'm an admin too...there are a few chatty morons here who feel they need to enlighten me with every little thought in their heads.  Enough to drive you insane.   Here's what I do--

Once they come over, I pick up the phone and call someone. If I don't have an appointment to call, I call time and temp, and pretend i'm talking to someone important. Make sure to make ZERO eyecontact with them.  Eventually they get bored and go away.

Have your boss give a quick office meeting, and say "the office admin is a very busy person, who has alot to concentrate on. So please from now on, only talk to her for work-related issues and keep chit-chat to a bare minimum"

If all else fails...just say "i'm sorry, but i'm just super swamped" and trail off...  if he doesn't get it then, Smack upside the head!!!
