Please help! New surfer?

Hey guys, I'm new at surfing and I'd like to know what kind of board do I need as a begginer?? I'm a girl, 5'6", 110lb, and I like it a lot!!

just buy a large floaty board. like a minimal. bout 7-8ft. that is what u need as a beginner.

and all you really need to do is find a shaper, or go to a local surf shop and give them inputs. height, weight, skill. and the breaks you mostly ride Most beginners use the soft foam boards i suggest 7'0-7'6 Long  20+" Wide  2.5-2.75 Rails

what is it lol just practice pop ups on land and that's the push-up position and straight to your feet quick and smooth about 1000 times until its natural OK 1st lesson over and buy a foam board about 8ft make sure its foam so hirt yourself and more important us have fun see ya in the line up

your best bet would be to look into some surf camps before buying a board, that you can try all kinds and see what is best for you. of check out some trust worthy surf shops in you are they should be able to tell you just what you need.

This question is asked in one form or another all the time.  Take a lesson an ask the instructor what size he/she recommends.  My guess is an 8 foot fun shape will work fine.  Don't buy anything expensive to start with.  Also, you might want to read what many others say by checking articles in the on-line surf library at surflibrary.org
