You clear it by not searching inapproproate stuff that you don't want others to find out about.

On the Yahoo Search Help it states that the search history is "..a feature controlled by your browser..." and they explain how to "...stop the search history from being generated..." and they have instructions for Internet Explorer to stop saving your searches.

If you want to clear your search history, you can do this

In Internet Explorer

1.- On the top menu, select Tools (Alt + T)

2.- On the dropdown, choose Internet Options

3.- In the General Tab, click on Delete Browsing History

In order to stop Internet Explorer from saving your Search History:

3.- In the Content Tab, click on Autocomplete Settings.

4.- Uncheck Web addresses, Forms, User names and paswords on forms,  as needed.

In Internet Explorer: Click on Tools. Then Internet Options. Click on Content and then Auto Complete. Then click on Clear Forms. This will erase your search history. If you don't want things showing up again in your search history then deselect the Auto Complete options at the top. Be sure to select apply or ok at the bottom

Depending on your toolbar.Look for toolbar setting's drop down .It will be under the pencil or the avatar next to bookmarks.Clear search history in there.
