I have 2 kicker comp VR 12's and they are 400 wats rms. I have a Kicker 1000 watt amp that is only 500 watts rms i have the two subs Bridged at 4 ohm. Now I been playing this setup for a year now with no problems. Today i noticed one of my subs was not working. It was a wire in side that the soldier joint apeared to burn off. So i soldiered it back. It fixed it. But then when i turned it on both subs sounded distored barely any sound. So if i unhook ether one of the subs having one hooked up sounds fine. So Now i only can use one sub. Is it my amp? Is that why the wire in the sub broke today. Maybe it lost its power? Please help.

  1. its the sub- its always better to overpower a little than not send enough power, here's why

When the volume is turned up and the amp doesn't have enough power, the signal becomes distorted, or "clipped." This distorted signal can cause parts of the speaker to overheat, warp and melt. Not good!

  2. well, heres how to tell, switch the subs, like take the sub that aint workin and switch it,if it still dosent work, then theres sumthin wrong with the sub,if it does work theres either something wrong with the wire,or amp,so check and make sure, did i help?
