Question:

Please help? Tooth Bonding? Dentist vs. Orthodontist?

One of my central tooth is chipped (central teeth are your two most frontal and centered teeth on the top row), but its lengthier and extends more than my other teeth so i would just have to get it trimmed (well get both centrals trimmed). Would this be a process considered under tooth bonding?

Also, who does tooth bonding an orthodontist or a dentist?

what is the difference between orthodontist and dentist?

thank you

  1. Typically a chipped tooth can be corrected through bonding, from your Dentist. An Orthodontist can however adjust the length of an elongated tooth through filing with a high-speed.

A Dentist would perform a bonding.

An Orthodontist specializes in the movement of teeth through gently applied pressure through the use of orthodontic appliances.  An Orthodontist usually has at least 2 extra years of specialty schooling post dental school.

  2. General Dentist. Bonding is the same as filling, except it is going to be composite (tooth colored filling material). Ortho dentistry handles braces, teeth movement, expanding the mouth, etc. etc. The orthodontists normally attempts to catch these problems when a patient is young. A general dentist can complete all of the following: root canals, extractions, consult exams, fillings, space maintainers, dentures, adjustments, implants, etc.

  3. General Dentist--can do all procedures in the mouth

Orthodontist--can do procedures only that involve moving teeth
