Please help! Virus Alert!?

Hello.

I downloaded "Lime wire" the other day and on it I was downloading some stuff but when I clicked on the stuff I download I think they were just "Viruses"!

So every time I turn on the computer it says there has been a "virus" and every now and then a message just pops up saying there was one!

The message(s) say:

Virus Name: "Trojan.Adclicker" or "Trojan Horse".

Action Taken: "Quarantined" or some of them say "Left alone in the Quarantine".

Status: "Infected".

Current Location: "Quarantine".

---

I really do not know what to do, I am really worried.

I have a program called "Symantec AntiVirus™ Corporate Edition". Which I update everyday.

Is there anyway I can get rid of them and what could they do to my computer?

Thanks for reading, please help.

  1. James,

    Listen to The Broom!

  2. go to trendmicro.com and look for the free virus and malware scan, they'll eliminate anything u have on ur computer thats causing problems.

  3. http://superantispyware.com Update and run a full scan.

If the problem persists, repeat this with System Restore switched OFF.

Email me if you have any problems.

EDIT: I always recommend the following be stored on computers and install them myself on any I repair.

    Avast Home Edition http://avast.com

Run a full scan once a month. I find this the best free anti-virus software.

    SUPERantispyware http://superantispyware.com

Update and run a full scan once a week.

    Spybot Search and Destroy http://safer-networking.org

Update, Immunize and scan once a week.

    ccleaner http://ccleaner.com

Run the Cleaner scan and remove all it finds

Run the Registry scan and fix all issues but repeat this until nothing is detected.

    Run this daily.

    Comodo Firewall http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

Some people just prefer the Windows one but this is better.

Check that you don't need to defragment monthly and also run a Disk Cleanup monthly too.

  4. download free AVG 8.0

    do a system restore.

    download free grisoft AVG 8.0

scan it. move the virus to the virus vault.

delete them from your virus vault. worse come to worse reformat=)

  5. I got the same virus as you a while ago and panicked,

Using your antivirus software do checks and scans on your computer everyday!  Anything unknown you can scan and fix. Keep updating your software.

As long as you scan your computer, it should get rid of it!!

  6. try SmitFraudFix and ComboFix

  7. Try a different free antivirus like AVG and see if that can get rid of them properly.  I had the same problem and eventually I got so fed up that I just reinstalled windows, at least that way I knew they were properly gone.  Later, I switched to a mac so I don't have to worry about any of that c**p anymore.

  8. It sounds like your antivirus is doing what its supposed to - if you think you are infected type the name of the virus into google and removal tool

you should be able to download a fix for it.
