Please help!!! What are some eco friendly ideas for flooring?

I am buying a ranch (about 1800 sq.ft.) in Georgia and will need to replace the carpet. I am looking for eco friendly options that will not cost a ridiculous amount. I was looking for bamboo flooring, but it looks like it is going to cost about $6 a sq.ft. installed and I cannot afford that. Does anyone know if ceramic or porcelin floors are eco friendly or better than putting in hardwoods or new carpet. Please help!!!

I would suggest bamboo also! Try Lumber Liquidators - they have good prices - also they might know which type floor would suit you best!
