My dwarf hamster, which is one and a half, is acting really weird. She can't open her eyes, she is drinking a lot, and she has blood coming from her bottom. I don't want to take her to the vet. What could she have?

  1. She's getting OLD!!!!Hamsters life span isn't very long!

  2. It sounds like she might have a urinary tract infection and, whether you want to or not, she NEEDS to go to the vet!!!

  3. WET TAIL! she has to go to the vet or she will die! its accually almost to late if she is already bleeding! call now!

    good luck! ♥♥

  4. I know that drinking alot could mean she has diabetes. You need to take her to the vet. This is what a responsible pet owner would do. If you love her and want the best for her than you should get her there fast. If you knew when you got her that if she ever got sick that you wouldnt take her to the vet than you shouldnt have gotten her anyway. No one who loves there animals want to take there animal to the vet and pay all the money out. But we do it because it is our responsibility as good pet owners. I have spent well over $600 in vet bills just this year on my rats. Do the right thing and take her.

  5. Wow...   Those symptoms sound SERIOUS!!!! Take your hamster to the vet IMMEDIATELY! If you don't your hamster will surely die!!! You shouldn't of bought a hamster if you arn't going to take it to the vet!

  6. ohh that doesn't sound good at all she may have an internal bleed/infection then

you really should take her to the vets if possible

  7. honey, it doesn't matter what it actually is at this point.  any bleeding of any kind is serious.  please take her to the vet ASAP.  if you don't try to get her treated she most likely will die.

hamsters are fragile.  sometimes once they get sick there is nothing you can do.  still, get her to a vet ASAP.

  8. You probably shouldn't have any animals until you are willing to take responsibility for them. Not "wanting" to take an animal to the vet is inexcusable. Pocket pets are not disposable pets - they still require vet care. If my pet were bleeding from her bottom, obviously sick and in distress, I would not be wasting time polling an internet community for free medical advice - I would be on my way to a vet. (Probably long before it got to that state.) It gets really irritating to see the number of questions for which the answer is simply "see a vet." It is irresponsible and selfish to push the responsibility for your pet's well being off onto the community.

As for your addendum - not buying it.
