A month ago I had protected s*x w/ my bf. Condom never broke he pulled out etc.

I was worried about my period, and kept stressing so I took 4 HPT and all were negative. It was a week late but came exactly 2 weeks ago today. It was normal. 1. Light 2. Heavy 3. Heavy 4. Tapering off 5. tapering off.

I wasn't concerned until I read that you could still be pregnant and have a period. So now I'm stressing once again.

I went out this afternoon and bought the CVS Preg.Test and took it. Within minutes it was negative. However about an hour and a half later I noticed some smearing and a faint line appearing in the "positive" area. I hear this is more likely an evaporation line. But still I'm worried. How common are they and do you think I'm pregnant?

I'm getting on BC.

  1. At home pregnancy test should be read within a few minutes, whatever the instructions specify.  The lines can change after a long period of time but does not mean that those are your results.  It sounds like you had a normal period and you used protection, so pregnancy is not likely.

  2. its more than likely an evaporation line

the test isn't effective after ten minutes

if you had a period then i'm fairly certain you arent pregnant.

  3. to me it doesnt seem like yr preggo

but take on again just to make yourself feel better :)

  4. youre not pregnant you had a normal long period dont worry!

  5. Pregnancy tests are meant to be read within the time limit on the instruction sheet (usually within 3-10 minutes, I think).  Anything read on the test stick affter that is considered inaccurate.  What you saw was an evaporation line (yes, that really does happen, that's why they tell you not read it after a certain amount of time).  Your period was late most likely due to you stressing out over being pregnant.  You aren't pregnant, trust the tests, and just relax.  You were responsible and wore a condom and it sounds like it did it's job.  And kudos to you for being responsible and getting on bc.

  6. Probably not.

The test doesn't say to wait an hour and a half for results.

By the way... nobody needs to know the day to day details of how heavy your period was.
