i have flat feet and have been provided insoles by my doctor/hospital.i need to know what kind of trainer i would need as i do some running and long distance walking.what i did notice that i did buy top of the range running shoes (adidas) about 7 months ago and they started to lean outwards because of my insoles (not rolling inside) these are custom insoles which i think lift my arch so thats why they lean outwards,so what is the solution?

  1. I think its time for new runners.  Bring in your old runners and your orthotics to a specialized running store (staff is knowledgeable and runners themselves)  Have them to analyze your old shoes/orthotics and your feet/gait/under or over pronation and they will be able to tell what's the best runners for you.

Runners generally last for 3-6 months or 300-400miles if you run on a regular basis (minimum 3days/week).  Look underneath and check for wear patterns and at the edge of the heels if they are compressed, if worn and compressed (looks like wrinkles), it lost its support and is time for new shoes.  Your orthotics can replace your insoles of your running shoes providing that they can fully support your feet. (orthotist would be able to tell you that if your not sure)

Good Luck and run happy :)

  2. Running shoes usually have good arch support, try them without the insoles for a while.

  3. Best advice is to go to a specialist running shop, take your current trainers and insoles. They will know the current range of trainers and how they support your feet. They will look at your trainers and be able to suggest suitable ones for yuo.By the way I dont mean go to a superstore sports shop but a specialist shop for runners.

In the shop you can try on the trainers suggested and see which ones fit your feet the best
