  1. The important thing to remember about angelfish is that they can not only get large, but they can get tall.  So you not only need a tank that has many gallons, but you need a tank with a lot of height.  Otherwise you end up with fish that can't swim up and down, but only back and forth, or else they have their little dorsal fins sticking up out of the water like sharks!  A good  way to picture it is that an angelfish can get as large as a man's hand.  Not only as wide, but as tall, and they like to swim up and down in their tank, not just back and forth.  So, while you can keep a few baby angels in a 25 gallon, it had better be a tall 25 gallon, and you'll want to get a larger tank as they grow.

You can keep other fish with them, but they should be relatively peaceful fish of a similar size.  So fish like discus, silver dollars, gouramis, etc. are good.  No neon tetras as they are the natural diet of wild angelfish and will eventually get eaten.

  2. Some of the best fish to keep with them are cory catfish.  Black skirt tetras and gouramis can usually be safely kept with angels, but considering the size of your tank, I would suggest only like 4 angels, IF the tank is tall.  You can check the different heights at a pet store, where they have Long, Regular, and Tall.  There are wide ones available as well, but usually for top viewing.

  3. you can get maybe 2 angels, they get big as they mature and they like a tall tank, maybe like 6 inches tall when they are full grown. another thing is that they are very very very sensitive to water chemistry. i recommend cycling your tank for almost 2 months and have your ph at 7.0 and drip acclimaing them for a couple of hours when you get them. they can live with other non fin-nipping fish who like a ph of 7.0 and won't fit in their mouth.

  4. size:Up to 6" in length, tank size:The minimum size tank for a breeding pair of Angelfish is 15 gallons, but should be 25 gallons or larger if you plan on leaving the fry with the parents. As you can imagine, a fully grown pair of Angels with 200-300 fry to herd around would be pretty cramped in anything smaller. Another plus to having a larger tank is that there is a better feeling of security in a larger tank and the parents aren't as apt to eat their eggs or young. hope i help a bit

  5. The smallest tank recommended for a single Angel is 30 gallons. For a pair, I'd go with something in the 45-55 gallon range and be sure to get either 2 females or a proven pair. Most peaceful community fish are fine with Angels, just avoid Neon Tetras and shrimp, who the Angels will likely eat.

Breeding Angels is not easy, and requires a tank free of substrate and other fish who will eat the fry and a special sponge filter, among many other things.

Be sure to cycle your tank very well with hearty fish, (my favorite cycling fish are cherry barbs,) before adding your Angel(s).
