I'm literally on the verge of tears and I'm a guy =[

So I failed my english 1A(101) class in college....it's one of the first classes i've ever taken. I'm only in high school, but I got into that class at community college. Unfortunately I failed....now I'm freaking out...this is my first failing grade.......

Does this mean I won't graduate?

Is it okay to fail one class?

Will universities never accept me?

Do you think I can re-take this class or take it at another college.

If I do really well on my SAT's,will that make up for it?

please help me

  1. First, take a deep breath. I am in college and from what I have experienced they mostly look at SAT scores. You just have an advantage by taking college classes sooner or honors or AP.

I don't go to your school so I can't be certain but I'm pretty sure you will be okay. All you have to do is ask either your teacher or councilor.

Also, if this is your first failing grade colleges will notice that. (My one failing grade was in math and I got to college fine) So take another deep breath and remember it's mostly SATs that count.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll do great.

  2. First of all, take a breath...and calm down...

The class only counts if you were taking it for credit in college, but you stated that you're still in high school...this will not affect your high school graduation...universities won't even know about this because it was optional...you should be able to retake it at the same college...most allow you to retake a class with a failing grade at least once, and don't even count the old grade...your SATs have nothing to do with it either...if you do well on the SAT, you just do well, which I hope you do...

One suggestion: evaluate why you failed and try to solve the problem...did you procrastinate on assignments?  was it the teacher?  I can almost guarantee that you will do better next time...I retook several classes while I was in college (at UCLA) and graduated

Hope this helps and remember grades aren't everything...
