Please help- are online poker winnings earned or unearned income?

I need to know for IRA purposes . i know i have to pay taxes but is it "earned" income or "unearned" . wasnt there a supreme court case which ruled poker winnings as "earned"? I had heard about this. Please help. THank you.

The court decision was that poker tournaments have to declare their payouts after a certain amount similar to slots, keno and horse racing.   As far as I know winnings are considered income just as wages and tips.
