  1. I have taken both the pill & the shot. I liked to shot the most since I use to forget to take a pill. The shot did allow me to gain 10 lbs of water weight but I had no pills to forget about & NO PERIOD. The pill dos help some ppl with acne & will not cause the weight gain the shot is known for. I would talk it over w/ a doctor. The shot is just as affective as the pill. Again ask your doctor. I love that shot <3

  2. I would take pills. First of all, it's a lot easier to swallow a pill than to have a long thin needle stabbed into your flesh. Not to mention, as said, the pill is mor effective than the shot. Also, if you have problems with remembering then just go to the store and spend a few extra bucks on sticky notes and a felt pen and just cover your mirror, and refrigerator in sticky notes with reminders to take your pill written on them. Or create a posters and hang them around your house/appartment whatever. Make sure that any reminders are big and obnoxious. You can even have a trustworthy friend (With a good memory) call you every day and ask if you've taken your pill yet? be creative.

  3. Well according to this website, the shot is more effective than the pill and it is easier to deal with.  If you forget a pill or take it at the wrong time, it does s***w everything up.  I'm a goofball so the pill would not be for me.  I couldn't even remember to take my prenatal vitamins half the time.  (Baby's are perfect and i'm ok..thanks for concern)

  4. Nuva Ring.  I have taken multiple types of birth control and it is hands down my favorite.  All of my friends use it now, it's great.  2nd pick would be the pill though.

  5. No matter what you choose, there are side effects and down sides to hormonal birth control.  If you think you will find it difficult to remember a daily pill, your choices are pretty limited.  You can opt for Depo, or you could consider an IUD.  Those are more expensive at the start, but the Mirena IUD has a lot of advantages not found in the pill or shot.  For one thing, it's good up to five years or more.  You will also likely find your monthly period will disappear, so if you are troubled by PMS that should be eased.  An iud may not be possible if you have never had a child- but that doesn't automatically disqualify you either.  Whatever you choose, though- remember birth control only protects you from pregnancy.  It will not protect you from any STD's, and if you are not in a monogamous relationship and IUD is defininely  not a good idea.  Before you can decide on what is best for you though, you have to have an honest discussion with your gynecologist.  No matter what the result of a poll here at YA says, the doctor is the only one who is qualified to make the final recommendations to you.  Birth control is just not a one size fits all thing, and you don't shop for it like shoes.  Talk with your doctor, weigh up your choices, and make the best one for you then.

  6. I think the pills are better - you only have to take it before you go to bed - so its not hard to remember.

If you take the shot you have a greater risk of osteoporosis later in life - which may not see like a big deal now - but it will seem like a big deal when your 50. The shot also makes it harder for you to get pregnant if you decide that's what you want later in life. And you have to remember to get your shot every 3 months.

Maybe you should consider and IUD if you don't want to be bothered taking the pill everyday.

  7. The pill is tricky, if you miss one than basicly you have to start over. (I got pregnant on the pill) My friend got the shot and she had good results, the only thing is it has progestrine (spelled wrong sorry) which gives you the feeling of never being full after you eat so it is easy to gain weight. However you don't have to try to remember to take a pill everyday and the same time each day!

  8. the shot is not as effective as the pill. That is the most important part. Take the pills! And use a condom!

  9. it's a well known fact that the pill, patch, shot, etc. can interact with smoking and different types of medication. Plus, they have side effects such as weight gain, mood swings, blood clots, DVTs, PEs, strokes, and even heart attacks.

Why go through this when there is a safer alternative out there. NFP has been used successfully to avoid/achieve a pregnancy, it is very safe, won't cause a clot/stroke, easy to learn, is very cheap, it's all natural, plus many women I've talked to have been using it successfully to avoid or have children.  It can be used by anybody from all walks of life.  I've been using it for 11 yrs. to avoid due to serious health problems......it CAN BE DONE.

Look into it. You have nothing  to lose. Can the same be said about hormonal contraceptionl??? I think not.

  10. the shot is jut as effective. it all depends on your lifestyle. And there are some slight after effects of each such as weight gain or loss and you may lose some of you s*x drive with the pill

  11. I take the pill and I'm a forgetful person, but I manage to remember every day. I usually take it right after school or right before work, so Its around the same time for me. I think it works really good.

  12. take the pills

    they work better

  13. nu-vue ring. or whatever its called. thats the way to do it. the pill messes your body up bad.

  14. First you should talk to your doctor about the pills effectiveness vs the shot and the side effects of both. Second you have to decide if you're responsible enough to remember to take a pill every day. Third of all you have to remember that the pill or shot shouldn't be an alternative to the guy wearing a condom.

  15. take the pills and set an alarm in your cell phone to remind u daily. The shot is bad for your bones and its not healthy to take it longer than 2 years straight.
