Please help...bites on my 9 month old son and doctor does not really know?

My son has been waking up with bites on and off for about a month and a half and for a while I thought that they were from mosquitos. It finally dawned on me that he would get them only at night when I laid him to sleep in his play pen. I thought that they were bed bugs but my doctor said they MIGHT be scabies as she has never seen a case of bed bug bites to identify them. I don't want to go through all of the trouble with scabies if it is bed bugs and she is not even sure. Has anyone had either of these to desrcibe to me how I can tell the difference between the two?? Please help. No one else in the house has had these and since I have moved my son into my room and into a crib he is fine. What is your thoughts?? THanks to all in advance.

  1. Here is some informaiton and pictures. It even states that they are hard to distinguish from other types of bites.

  2. Then bed bug bites were never ruled out right? Where did the playpen come from? Throw it out. Did the doc. rule out spider bites. What do they look like? and how many in one night?Have you looked up mites on the e-net? I want to help you but I need more info.

  3. Fleas, ants and spiders also bite.  Either get another doctor or call pest control.

  4. This may sound stupid. Take some of the contents of his playpen to his doctor and have them examined.

Actually, before that, put everything into the laundry and see if this problem persists.

  5. I think you’re much better off going to a pest control place with your son’s bites instead of the doctor. Ask if they can tell what the cause is. They’re really VERY educated on anything and everything with bugs. Check them out and see what they say. Find a do it yourself pest control place and go from there.

  6. They could be flea bites, even though you might not have an animal in the house they can still get in.  They are similar to mosquito bites as well but they are smaller.  i would bomb (fumigate) the house and leave for the day but do not bring the baby back until the house as been opened up (to air out) for at least 2 hours.  I have had these back in the day and once my parents did this we were fine.

  7. I heard there is a HUGE bed bug epidemic going on right now in the US,

Try just buying a new mattress and throw her old one, then you'll know if it's scabies or bed bugs.

  8. Have a look on google images, and see if you can find out what the rashes are on there. I'm sorry i can't be more help, could you maybe attach a picture of what the rash looks like, that way i might be able to be more helpful.
