Please help...bleeding at 38 weeks 5 days!!?

Question

As of Monday I was 2 cm 25% effaced and had my membraned swept. I lost my mucus plug )very red and brown and ALOT of it) Tuesday morning. Had contractions that lasted all day Tuesday and stopped at midnight. Contractions started again at about 8 tonight but are still irregular between 8-13 minutes apart. Well I went to the bathroom just a minute ago and I'm bleeding, not bright red blood but there is quite a bit there. It doesn't look mucusy like when I lost my plug. It's almost like I am on my period. I never had this happen with my daughter and I am just curious. Is this normal? THANKS LADIES!!!

If it's not bright red then you're probably experiencing the bleeding that occurs when the tiny blood vessles of the cervix break as the cervix dilates. This blood is usually brownish or a dull red and there isn't much of it.

If you do see a lot of blood, especially if it's bright red, then seek medical advice. Otherwise, I'd say you're on your way to meeting your second baby. Congratulations!

It may just be from your pelvic exams or stripping the membranes, but I say if it's like a period, you should go to the hospital. Especially if you are that close to your due date.

normal pregnacy last for 40 weeks plus, minus two weeks,

so if you had started bleeding rush to doctor it might be the time for the baby to come

secondly it bleeds to indicates that your cervix is riped to deliver the baby.

though it is normal, but it will be good if you make an appointment with doctor( it is recomanded to visit doctor if you have such problem after or before 38th week)

not to scare you butfrom my experience, when my mom bled, she went to the hospital and they told her that the baby has died

I had it happen with both my boys when i was about 7 cm dilated and right before the horrible horrible contractions started.

I too am 38 weeks and 5 days pregnant although I have no signs of impending labour at all.

You need to call your doctor or go to the hospital ASAP.  It could be a problem with your placenta, or any number of things.  It could just be nothing, but better to be on the safe side.  You don't want to take any chances with bleeding.

It could be normal but it could very well be something wrong also. Get to dr asap for a check up
