  1. did the bleeding stop! that is the most important thing of all, birds have very little blood and can be prone to be bleeder. (i have a cockateil and when i trimmed his nails, he would just bleed and bleed...

if the bleeding stopped... and he seemed his usual happy self. he will be fine.. if he is still bleeding get him to a vet.

sometimes feathers can get blood in the vein of the feather, and when the feather is pulled or falls out, the blood can still be wet.

  2. it could be the blood wing if it is he'll be dead soon. you need to take them to vet and find out what is up. take care.

  3. Where is the bleeding coming from?

Our budgies self harm themselves if there is not enough stimulation (toys) in the cage. Just because it is bleeding it doesnt mean he will die. I have a bird that has a sore, and i took him to the vet, and it is an infection that has left an oozing sore. The infection has gone but he is permanantly left with the sore. It doesnt affect him. Hes still happy. Perhaps this could be the case with your bird. My birds sore is on the chest.

    Hope this helps

  4. If their are no toys in the cage birds will pull out they'er feathers for fun .  Most the time they will pull them out from under  the wings, top of the head, neak, and lower back.  Put  more toys in the cage. It takes about a year to tran them to stop.

  5. Perhaps he just snapped a feather by accident? That happens sometimes, if a feather was still receiving blood and it gets snapped or pulled out, it will bleed some. If you can, pick him up with a towel (the same way you would if you were going to clip his nails) and carefully examine the area where you saw the blood. If it's only a snapped feather, then he should be all right; you just want to make sure it is only that and not something more serious. If you can't figure out why he's bleeding, or find out that it is something more serious, then of course take him to the vet.

If it is simply a broken feather, try dipping the end in flour (the regular kind you use for cooking). That will help stop the bleeding. It sounds weird, but I've actually had a veterinarian tell me that's what to do if something happens at home.
