  1. It's lovely!

  2. Wear it!  I've always found the indian/punjabi outfits to be beautiful (I'm American).  I love the flowing fabric!

You've been invited to the wedding because of who you are and you're special to the bride and/or groom.  The Indian culture is part of who you are even though you're in America.  So if you're comfortable in your outfit, wear it.

You probably should avoid an outfit of mostly white, cream or ivory because those are colors reserved for the bride.

Good luck and don't worry, it will be fun!

  3. You sure can - it's totally beautiful!

As others said, just avoid all white or cream, or black, too. And not too much very shiny gold - trims, etc. is fine.

  4. Beautiful!

  5. The only issue would be cultural - in some circles it's considered more appropriate to wear Western clothing to a Western event. (I heard this from an Indian friend and was shocked by it). That should be considered semi-formal if people are at all familiar with Indian clothing.

Other women will likely be wearing dresses and skirts that are below the knee but above the ankle or else formal pantsuits. Use that to decide if you would feel uncomfortable compared to what everyone else is wearing.

Avoid wearing white, as that is reserved for the bride. If the wedding is going to be in a church then you don't need to worry, as that provides more than enough coverage.

Bare legs would be with a skirt or a dress. As that is neither, I don't see why you'd worry. Wearing bare legs is also inappropriate with a shorter skirt in a church setting, so you're well off there.

  6. That is a lovely outfit and will look wondrfun at the wedding.

As for what other people think don't worry.  Those bare legged girls will ask you where they can get such a nice outfit.

  7. That is a really nice outfit ! I think it would be a perfect way for you to show your personal style/culture, but, be dressed up at the same time.

For colors to avoid: white & ivory. (your outfit can have either on it, but, just don't wear one that's mostly white or ivory, as most brides like to be the only one's in those colors)

  8. The outfit is really cute just don't wear the pants with it if the split is not to high or just sew the split up on the sides.
