Please help! car inspection problem! cops?

ok so my inspection has been out since april 08 and ive still been driving it around. i know its irresponsible lol. but i got pulled over yesterday and the cop said i had 24 hours to drive my car until i got it inspected. but im moving to nebraska in a couple days and was planning on selling my car in about 2 days. so i went early with my friend whos buying it and got the title transferred to his name. my boyfriend said he would have 10 days to get the car inspected and registered so technically it would still be legal for me to be driving it around since he has 10 days and the car is still insured under my name. is that true??

Nope.  Until the car is registered in your boyfriend's name it is still yours, regardless of the name of the owner on the title.  If the police told you that you have 24 hours to get it inspected, then you need to go get it inspected.  If you get caught driving it before it's registered in your boyfriend's name, you're toast.

If the car is registered and titled in his name, the insurance is no longer valid.  It is still legal to drive it for the ten days before its inspected, but if you get stopped and they look into the insurance, that will be what gets you in trouble.  The car has to be in your name for the insurance company to cover it.

No this is pretty much how it works the person driving the vehicle is responsible in knowing if the inspection or registration, insurance is up to date regardless if the vehicle is not in there name at least in Texas.
