Please help discrimination!? :'(?

my best friend is on her work experiance.(shes in a different year) she only started on monday but she alredy hates it because she is being discriminated against. there is this boy there and they favour him over her. they give him good jobs like designing and helping with staging and she just has to dust! she asks to do something else and they say but you cant do that. and if the boy cant do it neither can she.wot should she do. he sed he was going for head boy and they said hes brilliant? she has another 2 weeks to go :S ?

You really should be careful with the use of the work "Discrimination".  In the modern world, it is meant to define those who are unjustly treated, based on their race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc..

The different treatment that your friend may be experiencing might well be a case of discrimination...but more than likely from what you describe, may be based on other factors.

Your friend honestly, might not be able to understand and follow directions as well as her competitor.

She may not be as assertive or seem to be as interested in what she's doing.

She may be a bit slower, physically.

There are MANY valid, morally just reasons for treating one co-worker one way, and another differently.

These may not be necessarily fair, but they don't fall under the umbrella of "discrimination".

Some people simply don't flourish in a competitive circumstance.

Listen, I know this may not be what you want to hear, but more than likely...its probably the truth.

My advice...she should tough out the next two weeks and use this opportunity as a life-lesson.  This job situation will not last forever, and should be a helpful experience in her personal growth.

she needs to start taking notes...of everytime it occurs, so she can report it. discrimination is nothing to play with. The next thing you know they going to be chopping people like me because I'm black.
