1. Hmm... if you do not have ANY cones, you will

    1) not see any colour at all

    2) see the world in various shades of grey

    3) your vision will be VERY bad i.e. you will not be able to see the largest letter on the letter chart even with a pair of spectacles!

    4) have nystagmus

    Reasons:

    1) Cones are responsible for colour vision (C for cones, C for colour). Thus, no cones = no colour.

    2) Cones are in-charge of central vision & good resolution. No cones = BAD vision.

    3) In fact the vision is so bad that the eye is constantly seeking to fixate, thus, nystagmus.

    Hope this helps

  2. I am a complete achromat, which means I have 0 cone vision and only rod.

I don't know what 'colour' as a quality really is- I mean, I know what colours work with what and where they fall on a spectrum, but I don't really understand what colour is beyond that. I experience vision in terms of shade and brightness.

    (edit)

The below answerer is quite wrong re how bad some people's vision is. Many complete achromats can, in proper lighting, test in the 20/100's- most eye charts go up to 20/200 or 20/400.

Going with that trend, we can also see Pretty Darn Well in low light- since rod vision is responsible for this part of one's sight, ours is 100% unaffected. That's why most achromats wear red sunglasses, because red stimulates rods and produces a 'constant twilight' of vision- ie, decent vision.
