Question:

Please help how do i plumb in a washing machine?

do i just connect the new one up to the same pipe that the old one is on. New washing machine coming tommorrow, cant afford a plumber. Any help pleeease??

  1. agree with all answers BUT dont forget to take the transit bolts out of the back of your new machine and any polystyrene packing around the drum.


  2. Well i had a very old washing machine until recently and with the new one it just connected up to the same place.

  3. You have got it right, just take the connectors off the old machine and put it on the new one....that presumes that they are the same type. Some are cold fill only and some are hot and cold fill...

  4. If you purchased this machine new, usually the delivery men will remove your old and hook up the new one for you.  

  5. Depends - some washing machines use a hot and a cold feed.

    If yours has one feed (cold) just make sure the hot feed pipe is closed at the valve and connect the cold pipe to the cold feed. Close the valve before disconnecting or you'll flood the place

  6. I agree with most answers, but if the hoses on old machine are very old then use the new ones supplied. Nearly all machines are now cold fill only, so make sure hot valve is off an dose not leak. Good luck
