Hey, I just finished my junior year, and in a competitive school. At my school the gpa is in a 5.0 system, so i have a 5.36 out of 5.0. I am in all honors and ap's. Senior year I have all AP's. I am in clubs and also am going to be the president for one of them. I also have done community work, and won awards for it and also academic awards. I am apart of National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. I was just wondering what colleges can i make, i really want to go to University of Illinois. Oh and I did not do well on my ACT i got a 22. But taking it again and aiming for 26 and above. What college do you think I can make?

  1. Hey, I went to the U of I in Urbana-Champaign. So if you are talking about the one in Chicago then ignore my answer.

I just graduated but I know the University just increased its standards for ACT scores because a lot of people want to go there, so definitely aim for at least a 26. Also, depending on the college you want to get into (Engineering, Business, LAS, etc...) your ACT will play a crucial role. But it seems like you're pretty involved and your grades are very high so this will also be taken into account if your ACT isn't so good. I would suggest applying for the College of LAS if you still have a low ACT (like 24). Again this was 4 years ago, but I think my ACT was like 25 or 26 and I applied to LAS undecided. My boyfriend had a 27 ACT and got into General Engineering. If you want to switch to like engineering or business, then do really well your first 2 years and after you complete the necessary courses you can apply to transfer. But that's far into the future. Talk to your counselor about your chances, she/he should have an idea of what they are looking for.

  2. First of all, this is a question you need to ask your hs counselor.  However, I'm willing to help you because I was an enrollment representative for a college in illinois.  You have a pretty good gpa.  With that alone you can get into virtually any college of your choice.  BUT, unfortunately, most colleges and universities don't go by GPA alone; they're looking at your ACT or SAT scores also.  University of Illinois has 2 campus locations-University of Illinois at Chicago and University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Illinois;however, they're not the same school.  They're both great campuses.  In fact, the one in chicago just built student housing that is awesome.  It has stores along the street.  It's very nice!  You have the GPA for that either university, but I think you should take the ACT exam again.  See where your weak points were on your ACT exam and try to study and practice it a little heavier.  You should be able to achieve your 26 or even higher.  I say retake the ACT exam because you may have your eyes set on University of Illinois NOW, but you never know what may happen in the future where you may attend a school where you would need a higher ACT score.  With the GPA you've got.........yeah you should try to shoot for the 26 or higher.  Another thing, make sure you start applying for college RIGHT NOW because University of Illinois is one university that's pretty hard to get into because there are so many applicants to chose from.

Hope this helps and good luck to you!

  3. Yale

    Harvard

    Princeton

  4. if you get at least between a 28 and a 30 you are golden for Ivy or near Ivy schools. I had a very similar high school record and I now go to Amherst College - Number 2 College in the US.

  5. You can make any college you set yourself to getting into.  Go into your exams with that attitude and you will succeed at what ever you want to do.  Your attitude is the only thing that limits you.

  6. i hear uic is a hard school to get into but my mom got in and I'm pretty sure she wasn't  Spanish honor society-you won't know until you apply =]
