Please help i need information.?!!?

i really need to know if there is any adoption agencies in california that take minors as adoptive parents.. like if you are 16 years of age and are trying to adopt a little baby if there are any agencies that you can go to in order to do that.. if anybody knows any information please help me out..

Nope. If you had a lot of money I'd say hit Guatemala. Anyone can pay those agencies off. You'd probably be a bit more emotionally stable then some of the crazies adopting there.

Parents that place their children don't want to give their child to someone thats underage. I won't say your too young because I've met some girls your age that have better parenting skills than many adults.

Wait a few more years if adoption is the route you want to go. Go to college.  Nothing can be better for a child than an educated and emotionally stable parent.

no. no were can you adopt if you are a minor. and adoption is very expensive.

you arent a legal adult and therefore can not legally sign any papers. sorry kiddo.

Absolutely not. You have to be at least 18 years old, and you have to be at least 15 years older then the baby. So when you turn 18 you can adopt a 3 year old or young child.  Sorry!

The only way for you to pull something like that off would be to have your parents go with you to court to be legally emancipated.  You would have to explain to the Judge why you want the emancipation and your parents would very likely have to agree with you or the Judge would not do it.  So, having a place to live, a job, a way to fit in school, and the ability to care for and support a child would be absolute priorties for you to prove to any agency and/or Judge if the emancipation was granted.  Good luck.

omfg! NOOOOO you cannot adopt! i gave my baby up for adoption and got to pick the parents. i would NEVER choose a minor.  besides its illegal.  why do you want a baby anyways? its HARD to raise a baby. you need to slow down and wait until you are REALLY ready for a baby

and to this young girl, i somehow get the feeling that u r talking about someone, (baby) related to u....am i right? if so, and the baby is related to u, u may be able to be kept together, or atleast in touch. that would open 'some' doors to u. i hopethis helps. but if u r just talking about going to an adoption agency and adopting a baby, then like judy said, u must first be an adult urself. then they will look at what u have to offer a baby....a nice home, stability, income/career, and much much more....including the cost!!! so like she said....ur best bet is to stay in school, and get a career first, because after that, u will have something to offer a child. and dont get a great idea of getting pregnant at this age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! because then, there will be no time for school, u end up on welfare, food stamps, and wondering y u didnt wait until u could do it on ur own!!!! i was 19 with my 1st child, and married. now, i live in a trailer my mom bought for me, im divorced, and my mom helped me to raise my daughter so that i could go to work. my daughter is grown now, and turned out well, but it wasnt 'because' of what she saw in me, it was 'despite' me, because she didnt want to go thru all of the struggles she saw me go thru while she was growning up!!!

Hi Jennifer,

At this time, you are still considered a minor yourself in this country until you are 18.  The minimum age is 21 in most states to be eligible to apply to adopt from agencies.  (Sometimes 18 year olds are considered, such as in the case of relative adoptions.)  Agencies generally prefer married couples over singles.  Although some single people are able to adopt if they are chosen by the expectant mother through a private adoption.  The odds are not in your favor that one would choose you at this point in your life.  Babies take a lot more work than most teens realize.

The object of adoption is to find the best possible home for each child.  There are currently waiting lists miles long, especially for babies, in every state.  Those are couples who are well established and financially secure.   It's not likely a person under 21 would be able to match their resources.  In fact, if you yourself were pregnant right now, an adoption agency would be trying to convince YOU why YOU should not raise your child & why one of their worthy couples should instead.  You may not know how expensive it is to adopt from agencies either.  They will likely charge you in excess of $20,000 to adopt a healthy, white infant.  They usually require that couples be married a minimum number of years first, have reference letters, pass a homestudy, criminal background checks, extensive interviews, the requirements go on & on!  It often takes years.  Sorry Jennifer.

I recommend that you finish school first and then focus on establishing your career.  By then you might become involved in a relationship & want to start your own family.  If you are still interested in adoption at a later time you will have more to offer a child then.  It would help if you researched adoption to learn what it's really about as far as meeting the unique needs of a child.  It's different from raising biological children.  There are lots of good books out there, adoptee blogs, this forum, etc. that will help you become the best adoptive parent you can be.  By the way, you should also look into foster care adoptions since those are the children who most desperately need homes.  Single people are more likely to be approved for foster care adoptions too, and it's free.  Thanks for asking, hope this was informative, & good luck with your future.

No you absolutely cannot adopt at 16. You are considered a minor. The earliest you would be able to adopt would be 18 and even that would be hard-going as the process to adopted an infant is very expensive... not to mention the cost of raising a child from infancy to adulthood.

Sweetie, you are just a kid yourself with a lot of great experiences to look forward to. Enjoy your teens and start building towards going to college, forging a career...

There will be plenty of time to be a mom, whether biological or adoptive in the future.

Highly doubtful unless it is a situation where you are a biological sibling and want to take care of a younger sibling because something has happened to your parents.  These cases are extremely rare.  

You have many years before you need to consider being a parent.  Take your time; enjoy your teen years.  They are gone before you know it.
