Okay so heres the deal. I am from a crappy oklahoma town and want to go to college in California (my dreamland).

A) Is it possible I can get a full ride to a school out there?

B) What are some decent schools to look into around the L.A., Orange County area.

C) What kind of scholarships can I apply for (I am great at Writing, Art, Acedemics and scholary things like that) ( Also I guess I am gunning for an Acedemics Scholarship)

I am planning to sort of start out with a liberal arts major and gravitate towards something in PR. I am a hard worker and am on my own with nobody to help me with this and need some advice. If theres a will theres a way ,right?

  1. You should apply at FAFSA.. those are college grants. The deadline is in August. I get a full ride because my family is really poor and I live with my parents.

Look up their website on google.

You can do ANY scholarship you like. And you should load up on those.. people don't realize how valuable they are. There is every kind of subject you can imagine in the scholarship department.

  2. There are some private companies offering  scholarship , you can use this link to get one http://tinyurl.com/6c9zbc

  3. A. Yes it is possible to get a scholarship to go to college in CA, but being out-of-state you are at a disadvantage.  Tuition will be 8X the cost of CA residents and most of the time admissions and scholarship preferences are given to residents.

    B.  I have no idea, but I'm sure every kid in the country will have dreams of attending to any and all of these schools.  Have a couple of fall back schools... be sure some of them are in-state.

    C. Your greatest likely hood of getting scholarships is going directly to the school you want to attend and see what they have to offer in your areas of interest.  Places like http://fastweb.com are great, but are nationwide and who knows how many kids apply.

I would also recomend you do the fafsa4caster.  This is a website set up by the Dept of Education for Juniors in high school (because you can't apply for fin aid until after Jan your senior year)  so they will have a good idea of the federal fin aid they will likely recieve BEFORE they graduate from high school.

This will give you time to plan if you can't get the scholarships or aid you need.  I'm attaching a couple of good publications about fin aid and the forcaster site.

Good luck.- Oklahoma's not all THAT bad.  :-)  Move out of state, and you won't be eligible for the Oklahoma Promise or OTAG.  Free money for college is hard to turn down.
