Ok so exams are next week here and i'm failing one of my classes!! Science i've got a 41% in that class!! So I've been seeing a guidance councillor Mr. Whitlock since i guess february! Anyways I haven't gone in almost 2weeks to see him. He told me to keep plugging along and, doing my homework and trying my best and study for the exam etc........

So we had talked in May about course recovery and im not really sure what that is and i had a couple other question as well. I feel like im being annoying like asking to many questions or something i don't know! But i just feel that way but im still so confused about this exam and stuff!!

Would you go back and ask??

Thanks!

Nikki

  1. Yes.  Go back and ask.  That's what he's there for!

  2. Absolutely.  It has been at least a few weeks since you spoke to him, and you can say that you have been thinking about your last talk and didn't understand a few things.  Make sure you are clear on what you are talking to him about, so that you don't waste his time, and you probably should take notes, so that you can be sure that you aren't asking him the same questions repeatedly.  But you can and should talk to him again.

  3. Keep asking. This is your life! It is his JOB to help you. Think of all the time you'll have to waste repeating this class. Get it done now. Stop procrastinating, girl! Get your butt in gear and get that work in!

  4. I think you might be looking in the wrong (or rather, not the best) place for assistance...you need to confide in your science teacher (or if you have a tutoring center in your school, the science tutor).  The fact is that teachers very much respect students who have the courage to ask for help.  Take it from me--I failed several classes and basically was in denial and afraid to talk to the teacher.  Then one day I decided to ask my teacher and it changed my life and my grades forever!

  5. Let people know you are having trouble and most important let them know that you really want to do better... talk to your teacher ask what you can do... talk to your counselor....discuss this with your parents and I hope you  have friends in the same class that you can call or talk with at school.  Try everything....suffering in silence is no answer...

when you find something that helps you can ease off on other sources.   most important....let your teacher know that you really want to do better and will follow any suggestion!

  6. You should DEFINATELY go back and talk to him, otherwise you won't know what you're doing, therefore, you could fail, but if you know what you're doing, you have a better chance at passing the class.  If you don't know how to start the conversation before you ask him your questions, you could start off by saying, "Well I thought about what you were saying, but I've been sort of confused about some things..."

You should NOT be ashamed to ask him about things you are confused about, because that IS his job after all, and he wants to help you, and he probably enjoys answering your questions.

Another option you have if you are too embarassed to go back and speak to him is to search online.  You could probably find out a lot of information just by searching on MSN, Yahoo, or Google.

    Hope this helps!

    Good luck in your class!
