I try to be a very tolerant and non judgmental person, i believe in my mind that all races are created equal and i cannot judge a person by their skin color.

I know that in my head, but whenever i see an african american person i have racist thoughts. Not sure how to explain it, i dont have a racist family.

It is true though, that i have met very few black people that are respectable, and polite. Most of the african americans i've been around are rude, crude, loud and stupid. (just the ones that i have met.)

I feel bad about it but i dont know what i can do.

Its like my mind is telling me one thing, but my thoughts and instincts wont listen to my head.

Ugh! Help!

  1. Yes, you are a racist and I believe you are just being sarcastic with this questions.

People learn from their upbringing and I guess your family is also racist.

The fact that you have met very few black people, doesn't give you the right to presume or judge that all African-Americans are alike.

Learn to be a non judgmental person by being tolerable towards other races.

No race is superior than another, every-body's p**p smells; and we are all equal in the eyes of God.

    PEACE!  BE NICE!

    GOD BLESS!

  2. Listen, I'm getting older - it would be Very easy for me to say: all kids are selfish rude loud little brats with no respect for anything or anyone!  lol, I could say that and there's plenty of evidence of it around me.  But just because I would say that and complain with my friends about the hoodlums etc. doesn't mean I genuinely think all young people, everywhere in the world, are horrible!

There's so much emphasis on racism and not being racist that people get a bit uptight about it these days.  But to genuinely not be racist, doesn't mean you turn blind to what your experience and become afraid to say it like it is.  To not be racist just means you choose to be a good person towards all people - no matter what.   You know?  It doesn't depend on them, it depends on you and you're in control of your choices.  Because if you stop doing that, even because for example, black people are being racist towards you, then you sink to the level of all racists, of any colour.

  3. For starters get over this idea that there is some moral crisis for forming an opinion based on observation.  Skin color does not dictate behavior, culture and character do.  There is superiority and inferiority within culture, make no mistake.  These variations are found within racial groups.  For instance "ghetto" culture and "trailer trash" are really the same thing manifested among different races in slightly different ways.  Being rude, loud, and generally obnoxious to civilized human beings is not a trait owned by any one race.  The bottom rung or lower cultures share this trait almost universally.  This is not necessarily a condition of economic either.  I've been to the homes of rich whites and found them filthy and conversely I've been to the homes of poor whites and found them immaculate.  Culture and character define people.   So if you have experienced negative traits among a group you identify by race in you experience consider that these people are part of an inferior culture and the example does not hold true throughout their race.

  4. Thinking racist thoguhts is no big deal. We all do that. But if you act on them and entertain them you are racist

  5. I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm black and you'd prolly like me,  but I wouldn't consider that racism. If you think you're better than all blacks and that they are beneath you, then that's racism. Now, with your pre-conception about us as a people sounds like it's just from what you have experienced. I am assuming you're a little young and still have alot to see. Trust me, there are alot of us out there who are not loud, rude and disrespectful. Now I'm not saying we're like that, but it's obviously the stereotype. To be honest I have my thoughts about other races as a whole too. We all do. And I admire you for at least being able to admit and face that problem we all have.

  6. Lemme guess...you must be an Asian American right?

  7. Ok so you want to know if you're racist, by you comments I would say that you are. Personally I don't judge other races just by a few that I might see and not like the way that they are acting( stupid, loud and rude). All races have people who act this way and worse but should they be held up as a poster child for their race?

If you believe that all races are created equally and that you can't judge a person by the color of their skin, then why are you doing it?

  8. i know what you mean and im pretty sure 99% of people have similar thoughts. its not that you dont like black people or have something against them, its just your instinct. a similar situation is if a guy wearing tattoos and earrings walked by our first reaction is to stay away. its not that we hate people with tattoos and earrings we have just adapted to the fact that people we see in the media portrayed as bad people look like that guy. as long as you keep those thoughts in your head and try to keep a more open mind, i wouldnt worry about it.

  9. you don't have to like people who are rude and impolite. think of everyone as equal, and see if they are nice before you decide if you like them or not.

  10. It's fine, go with it.  It's a survival instinct as old as life itself.  It's meant to keep you alive and safe.  I can't see any reason to start ignoring those instincts, unless you're trying to win a Darwin Award or something.

  11. You are stereo-typing. We all do it sometimes no matter how hard we try not to. The good think is that you relize that your thoughts are unfair and that there is a problem with them. You need to wrap your mind around the idea that a person's skin color does not make them rude, crude, loud, stupid, ect. but that a person's character portrays them with those traits. Through the coarse of your life you will meet many people with unfavorable traits and relize that those people come in all different colors.

  12. White people are innately racists.  Accept your fate and get a life.

  13. I don't think you are a racist. You don't have to like rude, loud, and ignorant people, period. However, generalizing, and stereotyping is very stupid as well. So in order to better and improve yourself, you need to keep an open mind. (I know it is hard, but you have to try.)

  14. Your first two paragraphs contradict the rest of your statement.  You ARE racist in you head..start there..and fix it.
