I am 5' 6" and weigh 146 pounds, I know that I am not huge but I am also not happy, I hate seeing myself naked, nor I do I like my husband seeing me. I want so badly to trim up but yet I can never bring myself to exercise, I work a full time job sitting in front of a computer all day so no exercise there! And by the time I get my kids (6, 4 and 11 months) and get home and help my daughter with her homework and give baths I don't want to do anything else. I don't eat breakfast but I do eat bad at lunch, I can't really go walking when I get off or anything bc of my kids. I know i may sound stupid and please don't mean I just want to hear a little pointers that will help me. I really want to lose like 15 pounds.

I'm asking this in parenting also bc I like this section and bc moms understand.

  1. Walk, walk, walk. Don't sit after meals. Have one nutritious meal a day. That's all, you can survive. Watch the beverages too - they add up in calories too. Drink plenty of water. Do not do senseless eating. Take care. BTW, you're great mum, putting your kids first.

  2. Drink lots of water, and as others advised start playing vigorously with your kids. You can chase the big ones around, play ball games outside and look for ways to include more movement in your schedule. I would lie on the floor and let my toddler sit on my feet when doing leg lifts-he thought it was a game-he was playing airplane while I was doing weight training.

Finally-I know you are tired, but try having more s*x! It is good for your heart, both physically and emotionally. Don't be embarrassed, be passionate, it burns more calories. Plus your hubby will be so pleased he won't be focusing on your flaws-he'll just be happy! His appreciation will give you more self confidence!

  3. Try eating breakfast! I think you'll find you'll eat a lot less at lunch if you fill up on some high-fiber foods at breakfast. Doesn't have to be a huge meal. Just some fruit would work. You can lose the 15 pounds by just making small changes. Add breakfast and maybe cut down a bit at lunch. If you have a smaller lunch, perhaps you could use part of your lunch hour to take a quick walk. 15 to 20 minutes would be great (any amount of exercise is better than none). Also, drink plenty of water. Keep a bottle at your desk and sip throughout the day. Good luck!

  4. I would make sure to eat a good healthy breakfast, even if it's just a light bowl of fruit. Before every meal you eat drink a full glass of water, it will help fill you up and you can never really have to much water. You said you can't go on walks because of your children, but why couldn't you make it a family activity? Bring your husband and children. It will get you moving around and your children out in the fresh air. Not to mention you will be working out and having family time all at once!

  5. Part of your problem is that you're not eating breakfast.  Skipping meals will slow down your metabolism, thus making it harder to keep the weight off.  It will also make you more likely to binge at lunch.  Try eating a sensible breakfast and lunch, with a light snack (carrots, etc) in between.  Make sure that your diet mostly consists of fruits and vegetables.  Yes, protein is VERY important, but many people tend to load their plates with meat and other sources of fat while going too light on the veggies.  So take a look at your diet first and foremost.

Next, you'll never be able to tone up without exercise.  Sorry, but it's literally impossible.  You could starve yourself until you're practically all bone, but the little that you do have left will be a layer of flab.  Do you have an office at work?  If so, you may be able to get a treadmill with a standing desk installed.  That way, you can walk while working.  If that's not possible, get a treadmill for home use.  Force yourself to get up half an hour early in the morning to walk/run.  Trust me, not only will it help you lose weight and stay fit, but it will really boost your energy.  While at work and throughout the day, find little excuses to exercise - get up to walk around the office, take the stairs instead of the elevator, walk instead of drive whenever possible, and get out to run around with the kids.  You'll be surprised how many calories a 20 - minute game of soccer with the kids can burn.  Good luck!

  6. Eat breakfast so you're not starving at lunch and then pack healthier lunches. Try to get your kids to take walks with you when you're off or go to parks and anything active.

  7. There's no reason why you can't bring the kids along for a walk after you get home.  Put the baby in the stroller and go for a walk!!!  Bring the kids to a park where there are flat trails.  Try and make a game out of it - picking up different kinds of leaves, rocks, etc.  You can also use the playground as a great workout area.

  8. get one of those bike things to put under your desk, you can walk take the kids, eat breakfast even if it is one of those breakfast drinks, get a family membership to the y, go often, the more you do, the more you will want to do, the hard part is beginning, take vit b complex it will help a lot , stop making excuses about why you cannot do things, i think you would enjoy the y and your kids would also, when we go i bring there pj's and after we shower there and they go right to bed they can do homework there you can all swim they have free daycare for the kids it is a lot of fun and i have met a lot of new friends, the only way you will loose the weight and get fit is to do the work,

  9. im a mom and weigh more than u do! but i love my curves! and so does my husband! ur hubby loves the way u r! u have to learn to love what u have!

i know im healthy and the doctor says im fine so thats all i need.

    maybe talk to a nutrienist.

  10. I'm in the same boat :)  I've got 20 lbs to loose and it's not easy, especially since I'm breast feeding.  I can't restrict my caloric intake by much or else my milk supply will not be as rich.  There's a great website called nutritiondata.com that you can go to and find out how many calories, fat grams, carbs, sugars, etc you need a day for your specific height and weight.  It's a good resource to use.

Start by eating breakfast.  It will jump start your metabolism.  Even if it's a bagel or a piece of toast, it will help a lot.  Try opting for salads or wraps for lunch.  I love tuna and turkey wraps.  I take a whole wheat tortilla, melt a little cheese on it, add lean turkey, load it down with veggies and put a teaspoon of olive oil in it.  It's so good!  Up your intake of fruits and veggies, drink a lot of water and start off with aerobic activities.  Walking is a great one.  Get a tread mill if you can't take the kids out with you and do your walking at home indoors...in the AC!  Also a stationary bike is good too.  Once you shed the pounds then you can start to firm up.  I wish you the best and may you have better luck than I'm having, lol.

  11. When you get off work you and your husband take your kids for a walk or take them to a park.  On the weekends go for a picnic and walk afterwards, take lean turkey or ham sandwiches and baked chips.  Try the same thing or a salad for lunch.  Eat a whole grain cereal for breakfast with 1% or 2% milk (or soy milk).  Instead of parking up front at the grocery store, park farther back next to one of those cart corals and put the youngest kid in when you walk to the store.  (I lost 20 lbs with that trick.)

    Hope these help...

  12. Can a non-mom answer?  A couple of things.  Can you go walking on your lunch hour?  Do so.  Get into the habit of eating and liking vegetables.  Take cauliflower or broccoli, carrots, an apple, etc. for lunch and quit the "bad" eating at lunch.  It's not hard once learn.  (I've gone down three notches in my belt in the last three months.  Still eat sausage and eggs but breakfast and snacks are veggies.  (It will be good for the kids to have vegetable snacks when you are home.)

BTW, why on EARTH would you feel the need to say you "may sound stupid"?  You aren't, never were, never will be.

  13. "I know that I am not huge but I am also not happy, I hate seeing myself naked, nor I do I like my husband seeing me. I want so badly to trim up but yet I can never bring myself to exercise,"

I've been there after my first baby and my first step on the right track to losing (18lbs!) weight was to STOP being unhappy with myself.

    Step1

Love the way you look now (get a new wardrobe with clothes that complement you now.. yes there are such outfits for every body shape),

    Step2

Be proud of what you have done and what you do (for the kids, husband and yourself).

    Step 3

Never skip breakfast!  It can be your heaviest meal of the day.  Visit www.mypyramid.gov for a treasure trove of resources to help you lose those pounds.  You can use their fantastic and easy tools to assess your food intake and physical activity.  Plan healthy menus for the entire family and reach your goal on the mark and in style.

Good Luck (but luck has nothing to do when you love yourself) ;)
