I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, diagnosed at 11 and I'm 22 now. I have had it under control but the past few months I feel like I'm slipping. I have had a lot of stress in my life, ie. moving, parent's moving, childhood home being sold/majorly renovated, lost job, can't find new job, working in bad jobs, etc. My anxiety is so bad now I feel like I'm on the edge. I cant afford to go see a psychologist I cant afford anything I dont know what to do please help, people who are familiar with anxiety disorders help is appreciated.

  1. Call the local health department and see if they can help you. Also, some help can be done on a sliding scale or payment plans. Hang in there!!!

  2. Are you in Canada?

Ask your family doctor to refer to a psychiatrist, not psychologist.

Psychologist want to be paid,Psychiatrist are free in Canada but you have to be referred to from your family doctor.

Or go to a mental health clinic, they will help you for sure.

There is a lots of help here in Canada for mental health patients. Are not we lucky?

Medications are expensive though, but if you are in a low income bracket they are free too, covered from your provincial government.

Are not we lucky here in Canada?

where you live? Let me know where you live  maybe I can help you to find more information and locations in your area.

    Good luck!

  3. I can honestly say that there are so many things put before us each day, all we can do is take one day at a time. Hang in there, things get bad then they always seem to turn around you'll see. For fun, encouragement and maybe a little added insight; go to a book store and pick up "Psychology for dummies" (cheaper than a doctor, yet not a substitute) it is a real fun read. It helped me get through when I lost my grandfather, best friend, unborn child, job and jet ski. It will get better.

  4. I sufffer from anxiety and panic attacks as well.  Look in your phone book and call a local Mental Health Mental Retardation Center.  They should be able to get you a referal.

If that doesnt work, call your local county hospital, and if you have to, go see them.  They can give you some medication and possibly a referal to a local psychiatrist, who will charge you on a sliding scale.

Lastly, call a local church, and ask them if they know where you can get free medical care in your city.

If you need to talk, you can always e-mail me, as I know what you are going through.
