I really need some help to understand this poem, could you tell me what its saying and if it relates in anyway to a a displaced person. thanks a lot

A shell burst in my mind

Upheaving roots since birth, perhaps, confined

Before I dreamed

The devastation there outlined

And so my body now

Owes no allegiance to the scythe and plough:

I, dispossessed

Count no blossoms on the bough.

I build no man's land

A city not my own, with others planned

By others dreamed,

And with a new race forged and manned!

  1. "A shell burst in my mind

Upheaving roots since birth, perhaps, confined

    Before I dreamed

    The devastation there outlined"

i think that means the person felt confined inside of his/her mother.

i believe "so my body now ect" means if she is a girl maybe she is scared to have a kid of her own and confine him/her in  a land of hate

i build no mans land....i think that means she is not straight...

like building a baby...you got to him a man...but it says no mans land....maybe its not for her "By others dreamed"

but maybe for other people it means they dream of that....honestly i have no idea if im right or wrong...but that just seems like its saying lol

  2. This is to me, a person whose core beliefs, challenged and revealed for what they were...wrong.  Devastated, perhaps totally rejected, destitute, he feels no more, as well cares not whether death or life touches him.  He is destitute.

  3. It is confusing but I think its about a man who has dreams of his own but cant see coming true and is a builder, or constrution worker for others making other mens dream come true at  expense of his hard work.  Aprilthe
