  1. fish tacos

  2. Seafood paella is always a good choice. Fish tacos or fajitas. Just look for any mexican dish you can put seafood in. :)

  3. Two words: fish tacos!!!

J/K, sort of.  How about a seafood appetizer, like shrimp cocktail, and then a choice of chicken enchiladas, grilled salmon, and fajitas for the entree.  That's why we're doing a buffet- that way, everyone can have a little bit of everything, and you can mix a whole bunch of different types of food.

  4. Relax. Paella is good, but also have something like just salmon, or tuna for those of us who love fish, but are deathly allergic to shellfish, and can't have anything cooked with it. As far as Mexican, choirzo with cheese, mexican style meatballs with tortillas, or a fajita station, with a choice of beef, chicken, and shrimp.

  5. If you are using a caterer ask them to come up with a menu for you including seafood and mexican food. Then present the menu to your family and to his family and get their opinion. If you are not using a caterer have you looked at Central Market or do you have one near you? They have some wonderful choices of every style of food and you can put together pretty much anything that you want.

  6. haha that's so funny - I have a very similar problem -

we decided on going with Italian-American food so this way neither of us have "our" way and we all like Italian food - some good penne vodka with a seafood table and pork loin....You can also look into Brazilian cuisine - it's good ...has a lot of meat and you can add seafood and it has the black beans with rice...etc.

  7. Why not do a seafood buffet station and a mexican buffet station?

For the seafood buffet you can do something like this:

    Shrimp Cocktail

    Salmon

    Breaded Talpia

    Homemade Coleslaw

Fish Sticks (good if you are having kids)

    Mashed Potatos

    Tarter Sauce

    Corn on the Cob

    Green Salad

    For the Mexican Station:

    Chips & Salsa

    Chicken & Cheese Quesadillas

    Bean & Cheese Burritos

    Enchiladas

    Fresh Tortillas

    Guacamole

    Sour Cream

    Beans

    Shredded Beef

    Sliced Chicken

  8. the buffet is a great idea.  Have both to make everyone happy,  at lease one entree from each type, two side dishes from each type, and extras like braeds, rolls or whatever!

  9. Is this for your wedding?

You don't have to worry about what kind of food to serve people at your wedding ... usually the food you serve reflects your sense of style and what you can afford.

Usually, the couple serves foods they like and again what they can afford.

So I would understand if it was a beach wedding or a wedding at a beach resort to serve seafood.  If you are getting married in Mexico Mexican food.  If you are getting married in Italy, Italian food ... etc... etc...   So what is the theme of your wedding and what do you want your guests to remember you by?

By the way your fiances' family doesn't eat --ONLY SEAFOOD.... and your family doesn't eat --ONLY MEXICAN FOOD.   Who is paying anyway.... make that person decide.  It is only one big party meal in your life.

Don't worry about pleasing everyone.  It is just impossible. Even after you are married so don't stress out.

  10. Camarones Apretelados (bacon wrapped shrimp)

    Bacalao (salt cod stew)

    Halibut Tacos

    Shrimp Chimichangas

Chilled cooked shrimp, steamed clams, oysters, etc are all pretty standard at buffets and would complement any style cuisine.

  11. There are tons of great mexican seafood recipes, but that doesn't necessarily mean you need them at your wedding.

Keep in mind that while it's preferred by your in-laws, many, many people are allergic to seafood or some types of seafood. If you're having a large wedding, especially, have some alternatives for people who don't want to, or can't eat seafood.

To blend the two, I would have a fajita bar, and have options of chicken, beef, shrimp, and vegetables, so everyone will have an option (vegetarians, too! don't forget about them!). Then maybe also have something like salmon cuts and chicken b*****s, and a variety of sauces or toppings. You can totally get creative. I recommend foodnetwork.com.

  12. have you considered a buffet that includes seafood and mexican style dishes?  that way people can enjoy the best of both.  I know myself that I like seafood and I also like Mexican as well so both would be nice.

  13. google for mexican style seafood

  14. Do a little of both since it's going to be a buffet style. That way whomever wants some seafood, can take some and whomever doesn't, won't have to. Just because they like seafood doesn't necessarily mean they'll pick just that. :)

  15. Salmon Fajitas =)
