  1. Only honorable service qualifies.

  2. No you can't. THe only thing worse than OTH is a bad conduct discharge. With OTH, you lose GI Bill benefits and VA benefits.

  3. i would hope not, cause if you have a discharge like that apparently you screwed up in the navy.... so why should you still get benefits like everyone else

  4. Please refer your question to the VA.  Although you have negative answers on this question, there are still appeal possibilities within the VA system.  An OTH discharge can be appealed.  Nothing is written in stone and as years go by and the congress changes, so do the VA restrictions.

Generally, as the government changes hands from the republican to the democratic parties, so the rules and budget change according to the type of discharge, the circumstances as well as the benefits that are available.

For the short term, I would consult the VA website for a complete set of rules that govern benefits available.  In the long term, I would reconvene your search in the next administration to see if the rules have changed.

For example:  The Montgomery G.I. Bills of Rights has gone through several revisions and ammendments since its inception.  The standard bill remains the same but the extended benefits have fluctuated over the years from president to president as well as type of discharge.

Please do a complete Google search and read on this before you write youself or whomever you are asking this question for off as far as benefits.

  5. No. An OTH precludes your eligibility for the GI Bill. I'm not sure if it affects other types of federal student aid/loans/grants such as FAFSA or Pell, but I'm fairly certain you're ineligible for that as well. Check their websites to make sure.

You can apply for student loans through regular banks such as Wells Fargo.

My advice is: don't let it deter you if you truly want to go to school. Receiving an OTH is certainly not the ideal way to leave the service, but it's not the end of the world either.

  6. NO...You do not get the GI Bill with an OTH...
