Please help me :[ My teacher sent me to the social worker...?

I guess one of my teachers reported me because she thought I had a problem. So I got a pass to go to the social worker, and she was asking me some questions about my life and my "issues" and i definitely lied to her. But I think she believed me ... or at least she told me that. Anyway, 4 questions...

1. Are they supposed to say that they believe you, to make you feel better?

2. Do you think they'll call me down again? Like, in case she actually didn't trust me?

3. Will they tell my parents? Or ask them if I was telling the truth? Because my parents will know I was lying :[

4. Do you think my teacher will ever think of me the same way again? I had a good feeling I was one of her favorites.

AHH I'm incredibly worried and scared that my parents will find out or that i'll get in trouble. What's going to happen to me..?!

Thanks for reading. You have no idea how much I appreciate it <3

  1. If your teacher liked you and sent you to a social worker, it was because she cared and saw that you were troubled in some way. It is really a shame that you lied, because the social worker might have helped you. You wasted a good opportunity.

I'm actually surprised that the school would send you to the social worker without informing your parents, unless they were afraid that the problems stemmed from abuse.

You won't get in trouble for being sent to the social worker. If you were sent to the social worker because your behavior suddenly changed and you started breaking school rules, you could get in trouble for that, but not for going for help, although lying, again, can get you into trouble.

Social workers are not told to say any particular thing. Usually if they don't believe you, they will either say that or they just won't say anything (unless you ask them directly and they are stuck saying that they believe you).

Being sent to a social worker is not something to be worried about. If you said things which sounded normal to them, this will be the end of it. If you said things that were worrisome, they may investigate further, whether by talking to you some more, or by checking further into your home life, or by calling child protective services. In any case, the goal is to help you, not to harm you.

No, the teacher won't like you any less for having gone to the social worker. It is like sending someone to the doctor. You don't like them any less if you find out they are sick, and the likelihood is that she won't even find out what the social worker thought, because that is confidential.

  2. You were called there for a reason, I don't think you should have lied to much, if it was to save face, ie; they asked you about s*x and drugs and stuff fair enough.

I don't think they can tell your parents unless they are worried for you safety because the sessions are confidential.

They probably will call you again for a follow up just to see how you are going, and they believe you because they have nothing else to believe right, they don't just say that, they think its the truth because no one has told them different.

I'm sure your teacher will be worried about you, but you will be fine. The fact that she sent you there shows how much she actually cares. So thats good.

    I think you're fine.

  3. The social worker is just trying to help I'm assuming and when you said lies she assumed they were the truth.

I think of it as what my counciler told me.

If what you say is personal I'll keep it secret,

but if it's really big and/or dangerous I'm

    gonna have to tell.

So, always keep that in mind.

Everyone's has a limit to the point where they can't keep some things secret.

Your parents may get mad, but just think of the reason you lied and make it seem smarter then it really is like in a way blaming but not really.

It's not exactly morally pure, but some are desperet.

  4. You should tell your Mother that the teacher sent you to a social worker. What was the reason that he/she sent you there. What did you lie about? Is your life in turmoil? Are you having family problems or is this teacher just butting in where she shouldn't be.

No matter what, if you don't want to talk to the social worker again, I would tell my Mother and tell her what I told this worker, so your Mom can help you out before you open a huge book or worms that you can't take care of...

    Good Luck

  5. Social workers are for your safety. I don't know what caused your teacher to call a social worker, but I'm sure she had her reasons. And to answer your question: YES they will contact your parents.

I wouldn't worry about what your teacher thinks of you. You only have to deal with her for a year. I'm sure she will behave in a professional manner with you, and if not, you can always talk to the administration at your school about it.

I wish you the best of luck!

  6. Don’t tell the school squat. They write it all down. They may mean well but they are opinionated that’s why we have so many views on “what is best” in the world.

    Don’t air your dirty laundry!

  7. when adults and teachers are concerned about your well being they look for ways to help. I think that because you are one of your teachers favorite students she may have noticed some changes in you or in your behavior.

Since you say you lied to the Social worker she may have believed you but may do some investigating to make sure all is OK. Also when one lies they tend to not be able to keep their story straight which will end with their downfall. Good luck with everything.

  8. Lying to others who are trying to help you is just doing yourself a disservice. If you plan to be a doctor, as you say in your profile, then you have got to learn to be open to help yourself, otherwise your patients may sense hypocrisy. Next time you have an appointment to speak to the social worker, I suggest you open up, rather than clam up, or mislead. You might feel a great load has been taken off your shoulders.

Don't worry about the answers to the questions you pose. They are all irrelevant. What is relevant is that you get help with your problems, whatever they may be.
