Is it okay if i am not in a sports team in 9th grade? would it affect how colleges look at me, even though i am a Straight A student with a job and extra curriculars?

The Tennis team at my school is hard to get in, so i was rejected because the competition was tough. Will this hurt my college dreams?

  1. The valedictorian at our school was not in any sports and yet she received may offers and/or scholarships from colleges.  I would only worry about sports if you intended to get an athletic scholarship, which it sounds like your not.

  2. Not at all. I went to a top University and never played a sport - I come from a long line of top tier non-athletes.

Keep up those A's and extra curriculars. No one will care how hard you can hit a ball or throw a pole.

  3. You don't need to play a sport all four years, but it does look good if you play for at least some. Keep practicing throughout this year so you can make it next year

  4. no you can easily get into a good college by getting straight a's and doing other extra curricular activities

    no big deal

  5. well if your realy smart you will get into a lot of good colleges but you have to be in one or two sports or clubs

  6. No No No! You don't have to play a sport to get into college!

  7. in my area, students are required to participate in at least 1 semester of physical activities, such as PE or sports, to graduate

and participating in sports can help you get into better colleges

but that may be different in your area

  8. No it would not affect it you could get an academic scholarship for college and good grades and activities are extremely important for college so good luck

  9. To be perfectly honest, from what you say you seem to be very intelligent person and that means your options are wide open. If you are a straight A student with a job and extra curriculars there's nothing to worry about! Colleges will be god dam happy with that, they specifically focus on grades anyway so it wont matter.Hope that helped :D

  10. No probably not, colleges don't only look at sports you know, a straight A student is excellent!

  11. I know plenty of people who get into great colleges and don't play sports. However, I guess it depends what you want to go for college for.

  12. you have to have P.E credit to graduate most high schools. I would try to get into a tennis CLASS not team... If there is no tennis class open, i would try yoga or regular PE if your school offers it. and yes. it will hurt your college application because if there is another person with the exact same GPA as you, and they took PE, then they will be accepted into the college before you.

  13. Not at all. Unless you plan on getting a sports scholarship. As long as you have a few activities to put on an application and decent grades, there should be no problem at all.
