Please help me with this question.

We left an old bowl outside with water in it by accident. Just saw it like a week later!! I looked inside it, and I found around 50 to a hundred little larvae in the water. I know for sure it isn't Mosquito Larvae, I have seen that before. They are about as long as --- <those three lines there. They slide around like snakes, but it looks like they're eating the algae on the side of the wall. What kind of larvae is this? Please help me!!!!!

  2. Are they black??? They could possibly be black fly larvae.

  3. It could still be mosquito larvae.

There's more than one variety of most things living...

    Yep, sure 'nuff.

There are 57 types of mosquitoes identified in East Texas alone.

So I wouldn't be surprised that the thing swimming in the bowl of water is a type of mosquito you may not be familiar with.

  4. Certainly sounds like mosquito larvae to me.

It's also possible that it might be some other type of fly larva, such as chironomid midges.

I'd put money on mosquito larva though.
