Please help me.. Why doesnt my phone read my memory card?

I have a samsung u740 and i have a 1 gig memory sandisk microchip.. When i put it in, it doesnt read it.. No files come up on my phone..

If you have one handy... try putting a different micro SD card into the phone (one that has items stored on the card). If your phone can read it... Then the card you want to use is defective. If the phone cannot read either card, then the problem is within your phone.
