    IE: The pitch of the seat back? Or the advertising pitch vs economic efficiency?

  3. a plane is essentially a metal or composite tube. the precise fit out of the aircraft is down to the airline/leasing company. one airline may cram more seats into the same given area compared to another airline.

    it depends on what the airline wants to achieve, how they see themselves in the marketplace. if you look at a plane which has say normal, first and or business class on the same plane.. the basic plane is the same (it has the same wings, engines (well mebbe not engines), instruments etc.. all that changes is the seating configuration.

    traditionally the seat pitch is the space per seat. shot haul charter airlines tend to have the smallest seat pitch (effectively less legroom) as they cram more people into a given area. They do this to increase the number of people and hence ticket revenue. other airlines (eg scheduled and long haul) tend to have different ways of increasing the revenue form ticket saels by having a first class and or business class where the passenger gets ore space, more gee gaws and a dramatically higher price

    the seating configuration may also change with divisons between different classes, or they may elect to drop seats to make for more space at specific areas near emergency exits, or other choke points

    look at the layout of say first class which may be in sets or two, whereas club/economy class may be 3 abreast

    so what you really mean is you want someone else to do your homework for you.....

    I'd suggest you get a copy of he seating plan(s) of the airlines you refer to, make sure its the same aircraft, or find out the width and length of each aircraft you can see, count the seats in each type, find out how much they sell those seats for, then do your comparison

  4. Depends on the width of the aircraft, and how many mounting tracks it has.  It's laid down by law how far apart the seats have to be.  Air Worthiness Notices (AWN's) lay down specifics on how to adhere to the laws laid down by the ICAO/EASA etc.

  5. Seating configuration depends entirely on the airline and the class of service offered. For example, a common seating configuration found in Boeing 737 aircraft is 3-3, which means there are three seats on the left side of the aircraft, a center aisle, then three seats on the right side of the aircraft. If there is a first class section on the aircraft, it will usually be in a 2-2 configuration, with two seats on each side of a central aisle.

    A common configuration for MD-80 aircraft is 2-3, but Alaska Airlines has their MD-80's configured with a 3-2 seating layout (which was done at considerable expense to the airline). MD-80 first class sections are also usually in a 2-2 layout.

    Seat pitch refers to the distance from a point on a seat in an aircraft to the same point on the seat in front of it. This is typically in the 30-40 inch range, but can be greater or smaller depending on the airline.

    A larger seat pitch means more comfort for the passengers, so they may be willing to pay more for tickets. A smaller seat pitch means more seats can fit in the aircraft, so you can lower the price of tickets to entice more passengers to fly.

  7. Ok typically you get three classes of travel in airlines. First class, Bussines class and economy.

    First class normally has wider seats, with  more legroom and many other extra features. There are much fewer first class seats pr area than any other class of seat.

    Business class has more legroom than economy, but less than first class. The seat pitch is greater than econmy to allow for seats tht can recline ect.

    Economy class has many more seats per area than any other class. The seats are narrower andcant ecline much at all. THis means more paying passengers per area than the other two classes.

    Basically you pay for the area you occupy in the aircraft. First class passenger us more area per passenger so they pay a lot more, while economy class passengers use less space so the tickets are cheaper
