i mainly want an answer to my first question but would appreciate answeers for the others as well if you can hel; me.

i'm going for my annual gyn exam. i want to go on a birth control pill that you only get your period 4 times per year. seasonique or what ever brand it doesn]t matter to be able to help me. as long as you have had experience with the pill.

questions:

1. how long does it take to adjust to? like do you still get your period the first month taking and then you start getting used to it or does it stop your period the first month using it?

2. is the flow any heavier when you get it after not getting it a couple months or is the flow normal to what you had before begining it?

3. does your period last any longer or shorter number of days when you do get it?

4. have you had any good or bad side affects from it?

like:

-feeling sick

-dizzy

-cramps(better or worse than usual

-mood swings(better or worse then usual

-pimples(better or worse then usual)

-just any side affects in general.

please help me.

thanks in advance.

i'm going tomorrow so i'd like to have some imput today.

  1. I started taking Yaz 3 months ago and I haven't had any issues with it (except breast tenderness).  Period is shorter and lighter (I had horrible cramps/heavy bleeding for 4 out of the 7 days before BC pill).

Some say the pill can upset your stomach, and suggest to take it at night so you sleep through the stomach aches, but I've had no such experience with stomach pains.  I've had no bad side effects from it and it's never given me problems even when first starting it.  I had no break through bleeding at all, my mood swings are much better (Suffer from PMDD - was not a fun person to be around during that time...).  I still get cramps, but they are much lighter and don't last nearly as long.  Haven't noticed a change in pimples at all.  No weight gain.  No horror stories like I've read on the net.  I tried not to read up on people's experiences so much on the pill before starting it because I didn't want to trick myself into thinking all these horrible things would happen to me lol.  Good luck, you'll be fine :)

  2. I started out on the Pill and switched to the Ring.  I didn't notice any bad things when I started birth control.  My flow now comes on the same day and time every month (Wednesday morning) which is nice.  It shortened the length of my period as well.

It helped with my cramps which was very nice.  I still get them, but they're a lot duller.  I used to have them where I'd want to stay in bed all day.  I've always had clear skin, so I don't know if my complexion changed.  Everyone I've talked to has said that their skin cleared up.

As far as four periods a year - I personally like my period every month.  You know right away if you become pregnant instead of waiting a few months.  That's a preference though.

I worked a job where my shift changed day to day, so it was hard to remember to take at the same time every day.  The Ring is soooo nice.  I highly recommend it.

    Good luck with everything.

  3. I've been taking a monophasic pill that allows me to have just 4 periods a year - just like Seasonale or Seasonique.  I've been on it for the past 5 years or so, and it's been awesome!

I adjusted to it immediately - no spotting or anything (unless I was a bit late taking the pill a few days in a row, or missed a pill - but that's to be expected.

The flow when I do have a period is incredibly light - it stops the lining from building up much at all - so when I do have a period it's three days of heavy spotting and brown discharge - but not enough to even bother with a tampon - I just use pantyliners for the whole time  - saved me so much money on not having to buy sanitary products all the time!

Haven't had any problems with feeling sick or dizzy, cramps are minimal, and I only have to deal with it 4 times a year anyway.  No problems with mood swings at all, nor acne.  I've really loved it.
