My 9 year old cat is acting really strange. Whenever he is sitting down, he lifts up his right paw. He does not seem to walk funny on it, but when i compared his two front paws, his right one seemed colder. He is constantly just holding it in the air. Does ANYONE have ANY idea of whats wrong? Is there not enough circulation or something? He has a heart murmur, does that have anything to do with it?

Any help is greatly appriciated

  1. i dont think the heart murmur has anything to do with it. you hear the murmer because valves dont correctly shut and open when they are supposed to so you have a back flow of blood going on. i would recommend calling your vet because this sounds totally unrelated to a heart murmur.

  2. i think its a result of cat fight so his paw hurt or beaten by other cat

  3. When you have one extremity that is colder than the others, you need to get the animal in to the vet. It is possible that the heart murmur has caused a partial clot to become lodged in the artery supplying the leg. It may have some blood flow, but a cold leg is ALWAYS a red flag. Get the cat to the vet.

  4. my 14 year old cat had the same problem. although, mine was limping when he would walk, but when he sat, he would pick it up, as to not put weight onto it. i took him to the vet, and the vet told me that he may have sprained it, and since i have stairs if i was around when he was going down the stairs, to help him out. he's all better now, so i would say just give it time, but def. bring him to the vet, just to be sure. =]

  5. i am not sure the heart murmur ir doing that but he could of sprained it and it is not gettin any circulation and its getting to cold you might want to go see a vet if that keeps on doing that

  6. DUDE take it to a vet

  7. I have a cat and when my cat does that, that means he doesn't get enough attention.

  8. im gonna have to say that there probably isnt enough blood flow to his paw. im not sure whyyy... when my cat got old her paws got cold too but she didnt not put pressure on them. go to the vet. it could be something more serious than you think.
