I'm a high school junior; the straightedge, AP-class-type girl who you'd expect is pretty sensible in her decisions. And yet, I can't cut my hair the way I want, because my parents disagree with it.
I love fashion and design, so aesthetics are very important to me, my hair especially! I'm dying to cut and style my hair like this: http://i36.tinypic.com/15rz5z8.jpg but my parents flat-out refuse, simply because they don't like layers and think "it makes you look like you're sick." I told them if thin hair made you look sick, it wouldn't be so popular, but they still aren't buying it.
I gave them what they want, the 4.2 GPA and SAT class and all that. But those are more of an expectation rather than something they'd reward me for, so I can't say "I did this, can't I cut my hair?" So I'm stuck. PLEAAASE come up with reasons for me to cut my hair the way I want.
I'm so fed up that I'm tempted to drive out to a hair salon and get it cut without them knowing. Advice, please?
