  1. The Sony will take slightly better photos at 2 x zoom ( all other things being equal ) , But remember that memory and repair cost more for the Sony . I have two t-3 and one t-1 Sonys . But most important, the Olympus has a 7x optical zoom compared to the 3x Sony . This makes it a much more useful camera . But the Sony is a smaller more convienent camera for a purse so you will use it more often . I use the Sony's for fun ,using 3.2 MP for snapshots and 5MP for 5x7 cropped enlargements .I use my SLR Nikons for serious photography . Get a protector for the screen and turn off the digital zoom . Zoom after you download to your computer .

  2. I'd say the Olympus.

not only does it have more megapixels

but you can zoom in more.

just because the camera looks cool doesn't make it better.

  3. Do the olympus. Don't fall for an inferior camera just because it looks cool. You'll be looking at the pictures more than the camera itself. : )

  4. Out of them two i would have to go with the Olympus Stylus 1010 simply because it has a higher megapixel (more detailed pictures can be taken) and optical zoom. Optical zoom is important because it lets you get close to the subject without blurring the picture.

However if you want a bigger camera please take a look at this... http://www.purelygadgets.co.uk/showprodu...

  5. I guarantee everyone here will say the Olympus because it has more megapixels. Thats true, and megapixels are one way of determining the quality. However, do you plan on enlarging your photos or zooming in really close after you've taken them? If so, get the Olympus. Otherwise, 8 MP will do you just fine, and I've had better luck with Sony anyway, personally. But before buying, you should really see if there are any stores near you that have them so you can try it out for yourself. I say this because lots of MP does not necessarily mean good quality. The sensors might not be sensitive to light, or overly sensitive, causing whats called "noise" in the picture (the grainy-ness you see in low quality cameras). So try them out on different settings and see how much noise you get.

Remember, megapixels do NOT mean good quality.

  6. I vote Olympus, I have a Nikon, and its awesome!! But you should get the Olympus, it is overall better camera tech spec wise, and it is pretty good looking.

  7. I'd go for the olympus actually.

I've got a T1 and my brother has a T2. Haven't been so happy with those cameras actually. Less optical zoom, somewhat poor low-light performance. Pictures look great taken out in the Florida sunlight, but indoor pictures fall flat. My other problem with them is redeye on every single picture. its because the flash bulb is *so* close the to lens.

I've had and currently own several cameras, and the micro point-and-shoot sony cameras are the ones i'd be least inclined to recommend.
