I'm desperately looking for a few dozen daffodils for my brother's wedding in Michigan, USA. I know they are spring flowers, but wondering if anyone has any hints about overseas growers, or tips about where to look. Thanks so much for any help you can provide.

  1. You aren't going to find any available now. These bulbs bloom in spring, and the only daffodils you'll find now are in bulb form--bulb growers ship them out in October to plant for the following spring!

You probably won't even find any that have been "forced"--(made to bloom out of season) in October. They just don't bloom then; if you do find any, they'd be so expensive they'll probably cost too much to buy. You can't usually force a daffodil to bloom in October, because right now, during the summer, the bulbs are making "food" inside themselves and dividing, preparing for dormancy so they will be ready to bloom in the spring again.

Why not use a flower that blooms in October, such as Asters, lilies, or chrysanthemums?

  2. Daffodils are a seasonal flower and you will not find them in the fall.  I work in a flower shop (have for the past 11years) and have NEVER seen them available in the fall.

    Good luck!

Ps...how about trying alstomeria instead. They are readily available and have a similar trumpet like shape..you also get more of them on a stem than daffs...

  3. I am sure they are available at a price from somewhere! But, since thay are a Spring flower...do you think they are appropriate for an Autumn wedding?  May want to rethink.

  4. A floral wholesaler could help you.  They ship fresh flowers around the world.
