Harmon Pendarvis

b. Feb 17 1833 d. Jan 6 1896

m. Margaret (possibly Margaret Knight)

Harmon married a Rachel Jane Knight before Margaret.

Their son was Charles Asbury Pendarvis (1860-1930) who married Minnie Lee Pendarvis (1880-1971). Both were born in Dorchestor County, South Carolina, USA.

I need Harmon's parents and grandparents. Thanks.

  1. I don't often do this, but please use the search box above for Pendarvis, since we had a discussion on this family, a few months ago.

Not sure if this is your Harmon or not.  The birth year agrees, the death does not.  You need to verify your sources against this one.

The history back is very very intriguing.  At one point, one of the men married a Black woman, which created a stir, and is supported in court records, because the legitimacy of the children was in question. Thus, SOME of the family will have mixed ancestry, but others will not.  The documentation for this is online/ available.

email me if you need help on it further.

About Margaret Knight--a page on ancestry, com lists her mother as being a woman named Jane Knight. Could this be where the confusion is?? I only saw Margaret listed as Harmon's wife.

PS--Wendy C. is right about this family's history. I tried to help someone else decipher the family generations pages, etc. and downloaded the file. It is quite lengthy, and even shows the last wills of several of the family members going back to the 1600's. I didn't see Harmon listed in it however, but then it only goes to like 1810 or so. I can send it to you if you send me your email address. Mine is in my profile.
