Question:

Please help me if you know anything about the african clawed frogs?

i have 2 african clawed frogs, i dont know too much about them, but they are both males, very young, ive had them for about 2mnths now and i clean their tank about one evry 2 weeks, i feed them fish food everyday, but one of them started staying up at the top alot this started happening 2 wks ago now, he stay at the top floating on his back, hes not dead, b/cuz if i touch him he'll swim to the bottom and float back up by the time he gets back to the top, he's on his back again, now my other one has started staying at the top, he not in as bad of shape as his friend my im scared he'll get that way soon..what do i do? please help me

  1. this could be bactera infection or bloating. I would isolate the frog in a sterile tank, no substrate, decorations, etc; just  water. Try an atibiotic first. Tetracycline hydrochloride (available in aquarium stores) would be a first start. Follow label instructions. Since amphibian skin is very sensitive, it may cause slight damage to the frog's skin. Continue treatment until symptoms clear. If there isn't improvement in 2-3 weeks, try sulfamethazine (for bacterial gastrointestional infections) or metronidazole (for parisite infections). You should consult a veterinarian for a second opinion
